Bloomsburg Rallies for Win over Slippery Rock in Women's Basketball

SLIPPERY ROCK —Bloomsburg University placed three players in double figures as it rallied for a 57-50 win over Slippery Rock in women's basketball action Wednesday night.

The Huskies (3-5) started very slow in the game missing on its first 15 shots of the game. However, the Huskies were able to get untracked and trailed by just three at halftime.

In the second half, the Rock (5-5) pushed its lead back to six points before a 19-4 run by Bloomsburg gave the Huskies lead of 12 points with 13 minutes to play. Leading the rally for Bloomsburg was Kelly Burkhart (Sayre/Athens) with six points and Laura Lyons (Hatfield/Pennridge) with five.

Down the stretch the Huskies saw the Rock rally and get within three points, 53-50, with 29 seconds to play, but Gabe Miskinis (Lewistown/Lewistown) hit four of four from the foul line down the stretch to seal the win for Bloomsburg.

Jamie Kauczka (Kingston/Wyoming Valley West), Lyons and Burkhart each scored 12 points in the game, while Miskinis added nine points and 11 rebounds.

Slippery Rock was led by Kristen Bonner with 11 points.

Bloomsburg will return to action on Dec. 29th taking on Pitt-Johnstown at the UPJ Tournament starting at 8 p.m.
